Women’s Project Community

Empowering women to reconnect, heal & grow together

We want to create spaces where women can meet others, build positive relationships, and feel part of a community. Using both The HIVE and our properties, we will support 200 women to participate in programmes of educational, vocational and therapeutic activities.

From creative sessions and cooking to training, volunteering and day trips, activities offer opportunities to try something new, develop skills and build supportive relationships.

Why this matters

We will build a lasting, resilient community for women least able to come together elsewhere. These spaces will ensure that women experiencing homelessness, poverty and trauma can come together, connect and thrive, as well as rebuilding confidence, reducing isolation and strengthening social networks.

The difference it will make:

  • Women will feel less isolated because they connect with others who understand their experiences
  • Women will build positive peer relationships, making it more difficult for perpetrators to isolate them
  • Peer networks, training and volunteering will build resilience, skills, and community connection, breaking cycles of disadvantage
  • Improved mental health through creativity, social connection and holistic activities

Regaining confidence, self-respect and control:

Community activities will also allow women to access learning, training and new experiences, ensuring they can increase confidence, self-respect and control over their lives.

Why this matters

Women experiencing homelessness face significant barriers to empowerment including mistrust of services, stigma and social exclusion. Our strengths-based, trauma-informed approach will meet women ‘where they are,’ offering flexible engagement and building on their skills, creativity and resilience.

The difference it will make:

  • Women develop skills that give them confidence, independence, and self-respect
  • Women recognise and protect themselves from financial coercion and economic abuse
  • Women access opportunities that may not have been able to access previously
  • Through co-production, women can make informed choices and influence decisions affecting their lives
  • Improved legal, financial and parenting outcomes that stabilise women’s lives
